Course Description

The Master of Science(MSc) by Research programme offers individuals an opportunity to undertake an intensive one-year focused programme of study underpinned by a deeper level of design research activity. It provides the possibility to build industry relevant networks to support future career based activities and aspirations. The programme also helps you to develop core areas of expertise through adoption and use of rigorous and systematic approach to design research.

Projects are either self initiated or supported by external sponsors. Current projects have involved activities in Africa looking at water and sanitation of “bottom of the pyramid” for consumers through to developing on-line design research tools.

We encourage students to undertake projects that explore consumer behaviour, technology, and/or cultural trend based issues, underpinned by sustainable design practices.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must possess, or be expected to achieve, a 1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Other relevant qualifications, together with significant experience, may be considered.
